HTML Coding Question

Is there a way to center a picture using HTML only and not any other language? I'm creating a website using HTML and I've got a table of images that I'm trying to insert into individual cells. I want each picture aligned with the horizontal center of the cell, but the images keep lining up on the left side against the wall. I've tried everything I can think of but nothing works. I even tried tables inside the cells but that just looks horrible.

<center>image</center> without any coding on here I'd recommend trying that. My apologies if you have already tried that.

Or better, ditch the table(s) and use il/ul or divs + some basic css instead.

+1..I think the div tags should work better as well

Thanks, guys. I finally did it. I just used <p align="center">. I don't know if it's my interpreter or what but it seemed like things that should have worked weren't working.
