Do you mean GnuPG? I've used it (with Enigmail being the front end). -

I've used both Enigmail as well as Kleopatra. I use GPG stuff more often at work than for personal use since hardly anyone thinks about encrypting email (plus setting up and using public / private keys is hard for most people). Yea it seems that it isn't very popular for home use. In fact it doesn't seem to be popular at my job as well.
