Hey all, I passed my ccna sec test the other day with a score of 955!
The test was not bad at all.
I used GNS3 and a little bit of packet tracer for the IPS labs...although I did them in GNS a well.
I used Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS): (CCNA Security exam 640-553) (Authorized Self-Study Guide)....very good book...goes one step further and covers a little bit more than what's in the scope of the ccna sec exam.
I also used Chris Bryants CBTs and Cisco Press Flash Cards both of which were great.
I'll admit that I did not touch SDM one bit...it's out of date and hopefully the curriculum is updated with CCP. However SDM itself is intuitive enough to get you through the exams. Chris Bryant's training helped out with the SDM portion as well.
Good luck to all that have this exam coming up as well!
I think next up for me is going to be FIREWALL, because I've been studying the ccna sec since april (not constantly studying...off and on) and I'm a little bored of IOS sec since I spent so much time on it...I really shouldn't of taken that long!

JohnnyBiggles Member Posts: 273That's great! I'm getting set to take this in a few weeks and then move on to bigger & better. Not sure yet if I want to do the NP for R&S or the NP for security... maybe both. Might skip it all and try the CISSP. I'll have to see.

I had several SDM questions and they were easy enough to work out the answer if you hadn't used it before....assuming you understood what was being asked.
