My journey in IT

Been reading this site for the past 2 years and is the main reason for me being in the IT field.
just wanted to share my experience with the progress i am making in IT with my first job.
Right now i am working for an NOC for the past 3 months and will be 4 months at the end of this month, what my job is typically connecting server remotely and dealing with the already backed up files. All i do is create space by deleting unwanted back up files. I used to think that i am doing the same thing over and over daily and there is nothing i am learning, but i think no matter how different your job is,if u are in IT field u are learning something, coz it gave me idea how exactly things work in an production envirronment.I am 25,not a degree holder and planning to get my degree in the next year, did my MCSA this june, didnt wanted to complete MCSE as just in case if have to upgrade to MCITP. planning to get my CCNA once i have atleast 9-10 months of experience. I am pretty much confused about my job, whether to resign after 6 months and find a system admin, desktop support job and then spend atleast 1 year in the next job or stay here for 1 year get my ccna and then find network admin job,the thing is, a desktop support or admin position will teach me alot as compared to the current work i am doing but whether working for a year in the current company can land me good job i am not sure. i am waiting for the 6 month, once i complete that i will decide what to do.

Well you're in an NOC job so why not see if there are any opportunities to move around before jumping ship. Maybe see how far a CCNA will get you at that job. If they don't let you move up or around or they just don't have the opportunity you're looking for then look for something else.

It's also not a good idea to jump ship so soon. Stay where you are for way longer than 6 months. With the certs you have already you should be able to land a sys admin job but don't leave your current job until you have another one definitely in the bag. Getting the CCNA will only really benefit you if you're planning to stay on the network side.
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

Thanks for the advice.Definitely i will look if there are opportunities within the company.Although its my first job,the work environment here is of high pressure, also growth is almost negligible,i am pretty sure that even after 1 year i will have nothing knowledgewise, if miraculously an opportunity comes i'll stay for sure.If i'd been even an field engineer i would have stayed for atleast 1 and 1/2 years as you need some time to get started. But will stay here as long as i dont get an good offer after 7-8 months[notice period 1 month].Right now busy with my degree studies after 3 months will start preparing for ccna.I think having an ccna and mcsa gives you an good foundation for the future after that its all specialisations.
