Cleaning this house with the kids is a fulltime job.

[h=3]The Horse, the Wheel, and Language: How Bronze-Age Riders from the Eurasian Steppes Shaped the Modern Worldby David W. Anthony[/h]
It is a study of European language, and the root of all modern European languages, Proto-Indo-European (PIE). I am a hobby linguist, so it is a bit interesting to me.

    #1 Practical Packet Analysis...

Let me know what you think of this and which edition you are reading. I read the first edition and found it extremely lacking. The author promised that the second edition would be much better.

    Todays reading...

Man pages for Isilon's "isi" command, iostat, and nfsstat.
Different PDFs on iozone and dealing with client / cluster cache.
Flash cards and my "**** sheet" for the RHCSA topics.

Though, I won't be reading much tonight, just labbing for the RHCSA.
Work in progress: picking up Postgres, elastisearch, redis, Cloudera, & AWS.
Next up: eventually the RHCE and to start blogging again.

What exactly did you find lacking from the 1st edition? So far the 2nd edition is starting off slow with basic networking/TCP/IP info (blah blah)/downloading wireshark. The more interesting topics are coming up though.

    I'm reading through the following:

    (1) U-Certify material for CHFI, along with
    (2) CHFI flash cards created by a WGU student (found the link in the WGU - MS:ISA Google group). I hope to sit for this one in a couple weeks, but want to make sure I take it seriously.

Resumes. I had no idea how bad they were. It amazes me how many people really don't know how to write a good resume.

Otherwise, Learn Python The Hard Way.

Haynes Repair Manual - VW New Beetle (98 - 05).

So much bs to get to the alternator + 100 degree weather. Im hoping I can pull the tensoner out, to get to the bottom bolt. I'm hoping the alternator is dead - as Advanced Autoparts is telling me.

If I had a garage, and flat pavement I wouldn't mind it as much actually :)

Of course, come Saturday and it's back to Darril's book haha.

Finishing up the Sybex security+ book WGU recommends.

    On my short list:

Make DIY Electronics (I want to get back into Volvos and build an engine that runs megasquirt)

Complete Woodworking / The new traditional Woodworker / Building the perfect toolchest (getting burned out on computers so I need some other distractions besides the gym).

After that, it's the MTA material for Web Development and possibly Microsoft Press 70-642 guide.

And I'm finishing up cosmonaut keep, fiction book to relax.... icon_rolleyes.gif
