LinuxRacr's Quest for WGU Success...

I'm starting this thread to catalog my journey with WGU. Any relevant questions, comments, advice is welcome here.

I have been enrolled, and am set to start the B.S. IT Security program January, 2012, and have just seen my degree plan for the first time yesterday. Eight classes are counted as transfers.... It has me mapped out over nine terms. I'm trying to finish in no more than three to four terms. If I were to do it in nine terms, you can do the math on the cost at around $3k per 6-month term.

As of today, no mentor has been assigned.

I am planning on studying for my A+ exam hard over the next couple of weeks, and asking for an exam voucher when I start in January. Which class requirement(s) does the A+ exam cover?

UPDATE 12/22/2011: The rest of this first post is now irrelevant, as the issue was fixed, and the courses have changed.

My four terms line up like so below. Any advice on what would be most efficient?:

Don't give up and keep digging you will pass it this time. BTW what other classes are you taking this semester? Are you going to have time to complete them or have you been working on them on the side while studying for ICND2?

The funny thing about this attempt is that even though it was the hardest, I did the best I've ever done at it. Before only one section was a pass, but now all but two are, yet I got the same 720 score as the very first attempt.... I know it was a mix-up on a STP switch question that got me in that section I previously did better on.

I guess I do need to update my classes in my sig too...

I did not realize the ICND2 was so difficult.

I was hoping to knock ICND1 and ICND2 in just 3 months...

I was more worried about the MS tests like the 70-680, now Im worried about Cisco lol.

Finally got my voucher, and scheduled my exam for this coming Monday. Meanwhile, broken into the CCNA Security material. A lot of it is review from Sec+, and a lot is not.

not sure if this will help, but something that helped me on the icnd tests was prior to starting the exam, write your subnet calculator stuff and anything else fresh in your head on the supplied paper. the old learnkey (I think) video has one segment on super easy subnetting.

Looks like the 4th time for the ICND2 CCNA was the magic number! I passed! SO freaking glad this test is behind me. Score: 832....

On to the CCNA Security exam...

Still three more classes to finish before the end of June! Just a little weight off...

Took the CCNA Security 640-554 today, while on vacation in British Columbia, and missed the pass score by 10 points... this means that I only missed maybe one or two questions... I have this one by the throat folks...

Working diligently on IWT1. Anyone have any pointers that you found useful in tackling both tasks quickly?

Next up, RIT1, and I retake the CCNA Security exam Wednesday morning. Fun week ahead.

CCNA Security exam passed! Also, Task 1 for IWT1 (RIWT) was graded, and no revisions needed! Two day turnaround on it as well, after the 15th of the month!

Was able to finish all but task 4 of RIT1 (which I'm working on now). The last day of the term is tomorrow. I submitted task 3 last night, and 6 hours later, it was graded. Hopefully I can submit task 4 tonight, and have it graded just as quickly... I'm having a little difficulty with task 4, but I believe I will move past soon enough.

Success, term complete. What a hard-fought battle this term was. On to new fun in the next one.

Wow, the new course changes have now shown up. I now see the two OS classes for Linux+, along with others. My OTP is all jacked up now. I'll have to get them to fix that...

Redid my signature today based on the changes to the BSIT Security program. Quite a few classes were replaced with newer versions, or were split into two classes.

Passed my LX0-101/LPIC1 exam today on the first attempt. On to the LX0-102/LPIC2.

Ok, so I have less than 7 weeks to finish out DSV1, TPV1, CVV1. It is going to be a hell of a ride! DSV1 exam scheduled for Tuesday.

DSV1 (LX0-102) exam conquered today. On to TPV1 (Project+).

Congrats, I'm studying for P+ at this very moment. Hoping to knock it out this weekend and take a much needed break for the last week or so of my term.

Congrats on the pass. For the Project+ exam, get the sybex book, read it, and go test. It's one of the easier Comptia tests i've had to take.

I too am planning on taking the Project + sometime next spring in order to meet that requirement early....is it that bad?

It isn't very hard, it's just boring. I did it a month or so ago. Just keep reminding yourself how many credits you'll be knocking out with the test, haha.

Danielm7 is right. I just passed it minutes ago. Just make sure you can effectively answer all of the questions in the Heldman Project+ Study guide at the nd of each chapter. Also make sure you go over the electronic flash cards and practice exam on the CD included with the book. Look for Cold Titanium's mnemonic for remembering the EVM formulas. That was a big help.
