How the transparent mode of VTP works?

This mode sounds weird. It does not accept update, then what is the point this mode exists?
Also, though the switch in transparent mode does not accept updates, it forwards certain updates outward. What is this for?

johnifanx98 Member Posts: 329figured out this question myself. transparent switch just serves to forward VTP protocols in case VTP serve/clients are discontinuous.

It allows you to configure a switch with different VLANs from other switches in the same VTP domain without fear of the configuration getting overwritten or changed.
