Hi!
I'm trying to work with SDM, but i have a few problem with that:
- it's not working via https. http is ok, authentication is ok, but when i click on This device has HTTPS enabled...., it starts the browser and nothing happen.
- after i login with http, and go to Configuration > Additionan tasks. nothing, not working at all. And i cant edit interface settings too.

My router is a 2691(IOS 12.4 enterprise) in GSN3, i tried with W7 and XP from Virtualbox, same results.
settings:
sdm 2.5 installed on desktop only
doman name ok
http and https running
local auth
rsa key generated
user with privilege 15 ok

What is the problem? Can you help me?

I hate this SDM so much. I hope there is no SDM related question on the icnd exams, I prefer cli....

SDM is a terrible, outdated piece of s...oftware. Basically, you have to be using an older version of Java for it to work correctly. There are a few different versions of Java that will work, but if you google sdm and java you'll get some good ideas.

Edit: Removed incorrect information regarding SDM. As lrb rightfully points out below, this is still on the official objective list, so it's a good idea to have a working knowledge of it.

Also, there are no questions for SDM on ICND1 or ICND2. The only cisco exam (to my knowledge) that requires you to know SDM is CCNA:Security (IINS). So I wouldn't mess with SDM if you're just studying for the ICND1.

SDM is covered in the official ICND1 course materials (which is why Odom covers it in the book) so it is fair game on the exams. Although you can probably get away without using it, I would at least know the SDM content from the book.

It's Java. I had the same issue.
I downloaded version 1.6.0_02 and SDM worked fine
