Is using Testout computer based training software enough to pass?

Hello,

I am currently using "Testout" to study for my 680 test.

Configuring Windows 7

I was wondering, of those of you that have passed did you use Testout? Was it enough to pass the test?

I am scheduled to take my test on Feb 13th (21 days from now.)

Bump. I pushed back my test a month so I could study more.

Does anyone have any input into Testout Labsim?

Sorry, I have no feedback on that specifically. However, my general opinion is that the primary source of study material for any MS 70-series certification should always be the MS Press book for that exam. I've used a few different practice test vendors, and none has been especially bad or especially good.

I've used TestOut for the 640 / 642 exams - fairly good so far. For the 680 I mainly used the MS press book and Technet. I like the lecture notes they provide and the hands-on labs built in. But, I would never use a single source for the exam. Example: I used the MS press 640 book and decided to read another source, the Server 2008 R2 unleashed, which contained more detailed information on some of the exam objectives.

Nope you need more than just Labsim. I have the labsim for the 70-680, and it’s a nice review, but it’s just not enough in my opinion. If you want some video training get the Professer messer videos, which are free.

I’m studying for the 70-680 and currently using:

    CBT Nuggets
    Microsoft self training book
    Don Poulton Book
    And Professor Messer videos

I have personally recommended the TestOut training videos as I had great success with them during my MCSA 2003 study coupled with the MSPress Self-Paced Training Kits. I cannot speak for the 70-680 material they offer as I did not use it, but I can imagine it is just as good/if not better than it was for my MCSA study.

To answer your question - No, I would not rely just on the TestOut training material. I am a firm believer that just watching training videos will leave you with a patchy/uncomplete knowledge. It's just too hard to take everything in from a video, whereas you will retain much more knowledge if you read the information first THEN reinforce it watching training videos.

No it is not enough, although it's a worthwhile aide (I've passed my 70-680, and used the Testout videos/quizzes). If you used Testout with one other resource (I'd recommend Poulton's MCTS 70-680 Guide), and the free Professor Messer videos, on topics you need to review, you would be set. The combination in which these 3 resources would be useful to you, would depend mostly on your learning style and previous experience with the topics.

There's not really a need to go through both sets of videos and read an entire book front-to-back, but I'd recommend covering topics you are not familiar with, with at least 2 or 3 resources.
