SharePoint 2010 anonymous access

Hello,

I'm a SharePoint noob and have just been playing around to better learn it on my own. I have a site setup off SharePoint 2010 that I'm hosting off my home server (2008 with SQL 2008 ) and is accessible via my registered domain name however I can't seem to access it via anonymous like you would a website. I have anonymous policy enabled in IIS7 and SP. If I uncheck Windows Authentication while anonymous is left enabled as well, it results in Error 401.

I'll likely be using Windows Authentication and just add users to AD, but I'm just curious why anonymous access doesn't work.

Thanks!

    I found this on google.

Thanks for that link. Ugh I can't believe I overlooked that. I have been trying to get my SharePoint site public for a while now, so I was glad to finally have it up and running. I apparently forgot to do the last part, enable anonymous access from within the site itself (rather than Central Admin).

    Thanks!

I think the key step you are missing is the final few screen shots in the article MrAgent posted.

Sharepoint is a tricky beast. I remember working for my last company and for some people anonymous access would be allowed, and for others it would not. We never did figure out why. We ended up just requiring authentication.
