1st time around about 3 weeks ago 589. The new standards of Microsoft's testing took me by surprise, with no one to blame but myself. I came here and used the experiences of others to take my educational efforts to the next level. LAB, LAB, LAB!! I setup a a multi-domain, 6 server, 3 workstations lab using Hyper-v and I DID everything short of AD FS. Configured, broke, followed technet blogs and web guides on different features, and then labbed it all up again a second time. That combined with CBT Nuggets class (which I watched prior to my first test) and then using the Transcender Testing suite, I knocked it out today with a 769!

Though I was nervous this time as well, I was confident and felt like I would pass, ready for anything.
Thanks to everyone here who has posted their experiences in traveling this road, it really helped me form some new habits that going forward I will apply to all the MS exams to come on my road to MCITP:EA/MSG/Virturalization.

I cannot stress enough how much the Transcender Flash cards helped. It makes you have to KNOW the answer, without any multiple choice. I loved being able to read the questions on the exam today and know the answer before even seeing the multiple choice options. That's what "lab, lab, lab" + Transcender Flash did for me!

Yes I did. I used Hyper-vR2 and a Datacenter Hyper-v server. I then configured VLANs on my switch to simulate sites and WAN connections on the Local network. The subdomain dc can be demoted and re-promoted to its own domain for Trust lab work. I like the VMs because I keep a "clean installation" snapshot of them all that I can roll back to reset the lab, reconfigure and do all over again. Most of my work was done in the main office site, using the LABAPP servers as multipurpose non AD DS role servers. I provisioned my VMs in the following configuration:

Note: on the 2008 sp2 machines I run 64 bit so I can support direct upgrade to 2008R2 should the lab work call for it.

    Domain & Site Structure:

    Site1: Main Office 10.1.1.0/24
    la.local
    LABAPP1 - 2008R2 sp1 Ent
    LABAPP2 - 2008 sp2 Ent
    LABDC1 - 2008R2 sp1 Ent

    Site2: New Orleans 10.1.2.0/24
    no.la.local
    LABDC2 - 2008 sp2 Ent
    LABWIN7 - Win7 sp1 Ent

    Site3: Baton Rouge 10.1.3.0/24
    la.local
    LABRODC - 2008R2 sp1 Ent.
    LABWIN7-1 - Win7 sp1 Ent.
    LABWINXP - WinXP sp3 Pro
