GBIC Module/Patch Cords for 2x3550 Switches

Hi all,


I want to interconnect a couple of 3550 switches using Gigabit modules however I don't know which ones are compatible. Could someone please steer me in the right direction? Maybe posting ebay links for both the patch cords and modules I would need to make this happen? Thanks everyone for your time

The cheapest for me for connecting 2950g's and 3550's was using gbic ws-x3500-xl and cab-gs-50cm cables. Can pick them up for about a set of 4 for $30.

Depends what other switches you have.

Easiest and not requiring special cables is ws-g5483 1000BaseT just be careful as a lot on ebay are cisco compatible not cisco made. Uses cat5 with rj45 connections for interconnect cable.

I have 1 2950 12port switch, 1 2960 24port, 1 3550 24port and 1 3550 48 port switch.

what kind of cables would I need then?

For that module, you need to use SC connectors (SC to SC if you are connecting two of those GBICs together). For lab use, the wave length (50/125 or 62.5/125) won't matter since you'll only be going a few meters.
