Looking for advice and insight - moving from BA type roles into Tech

I have about 12 years experience is Analyst roles, such as BA, data mapping (EDI).

I have been interested in working with servers, networking technology, routers, etc. I want to do something different this time. I have been back to school at night finishing an associates degree; this time in networking/admin. I got A+ last year, went through Cisco Net Acad, and obtained CCNA cert. I am currently taking CCNP classes.

My dilemma is that with my resume out on the major job boards, I get called by recruiters for BA gigs - alot. So I’m getting nervous about transitioning from one somewhat IT related role into a technical role. Normally one starts with little or no IT experience and I have been in some shops already in a different capacity and I can’t tell how that experience is viewed; since I would have to start out in a Jr. role (I would think). Currently I’m working contract doing some system/job and network monitoring. However it’s so basic IMO, anyone off the street could do this job and I will have to find a way to embellish it.

Does anyone have any thoughts or know of anyone that has gone through a similar change? Any advice? I’m sorry it was so long….thanks for reading.
