A+ Passed How I did it

I took essentials yesterday and passed the practical today (I thought I had the failed the test when I entered the last answer and of course I passed with a 785). Those tests were the most stressful I've taken in my life and taken many hard tests in college.

I wondered quite a bit about was or wasn't on the exams and I think everyone does. The truth is your best bet is to know as much of the material as possible.I don't like writing this because it's exactly what I wouldn't want to read but: There are no shortcuts and the only method that will work is thorough study.

I was probably over prepared but there's nothing wrong with that. I read five books total in last month. Combined with practice tests included with the books and professor's Messer's free videos.

I'm starting a server class and a networking class next week on to network+ icon_study.gif

Grats dude. Yeah these certification tests can be very nerve wracking. Preparation for school tests is nothing compared to these :)

I am just curious, is the 220-701 exam easier than the 220-702 or are they about equal?

In my opinion it's not harder, they seemed like basically the same test to me. I don't know what CompTIA was thinking when they split that certification into two tests. Oh yes I do, they were thinking "My my, we sure do love money." You'll do fine, just review before you go.

Many people report that they do look similar. The biggest difference I can think of is that there are more command prompt questions in the second than the first.

Originally, the two exams were split as hardware for one, and operating systems/software for the other. They've been merging over the last couple of versions, but the next version (220-801 and 220-802) seem to be separating hardware and software again.

did you think it was harder then the first exam. i am taking the second one next week and worried. i got a fairly good score on the first one. i got 12 yrs experince and have been passing all the practice test. i have heard some of the wording can be a real pain. but i been told if i read them a few times that can help. any suggestion would be great

I took practical yesterday. If you did well for essentials you'll do well with practical. The tests were fairly similar, I felt I encountered more printer questions during 702. Take multiple practice tests from various sources, if you're hitting in the 80's-90's % then you'll do fine.
