ICND1 Passed -- from Network+ data sheet

Background:

No IT experience whatsoever. BS. Economics. Got job in tech field (banking) last year so after 3 months of studying and passing my Network+, I kept ahead with ICND1. I have to this day not touched a router and have only seen a live CLI looking over the shoulder of the network guys.

Total hours: approx 120 hours study with 40 on labs
Time duration: 3.5 months
Materials used by purchase date and price:

Lammle
12/2011 Boson Lab Sim -- ($100) -- got me started with CLI
01/2012 Transcender -- one month subscription ($100) -- the deadline got me started so it was good
02/2012 Boson Exam Environment -- ($100) -- 3 super hard tests but learned a great deal
03/2012 Ucertify -- ($140) -- a million questions which I did in 3 days straight -- instrumental

Total paid: USD $440 + $150 (exam fee) = $590

Found that I have over-studied. I made a deal with self to ask cute girl working in the building of the testing place out if I passed but she was nowhere to be seen after. I made a deal with self to post this data sheet.. so here it is.

I think Network+ was instrumental in getting me up to speed. I think if Cisco raised the difficulty setting by a factor of two I would have still passed, albeit barely. I also have an internet friend in YM I met here who I corresponded with and he helped motivate me and learn about networking device he has at work.

Cheers to all!

Awesome man. It makes me feel like I am over studying but I guess that the more I understand, the better off I am.

Congrats on the pass! You sound like me; I tracked everything I did on my path to CCENT, also logging 120+ hours! Hard work and dedication certainly pays off!

What do I do now? Where is the certificate? Where can I access it's details?

I found an email of the cisco certification tracker but the exam isn't there? What's the process? Where does it go and what do I need to do?

Did you sign up with Pearson VUE online? If you did, they should be sending you an email stating you passed and they'll direct you to a cisco login page where you can link your pearson account and it'll have your certifcation, you verify address and they'll send you out your cert etc.

well this now means you better hurry up and work towards your next cert so that you can go back there and ask her out! she'll owe you at least 2 dates then!

seriously though, well done! I know what you mean about Net+ helping a lot.

Good deal! I passed ICND1 yesterday. It feels great to get past that first Cisco test. I was fortunate enough to have 10 weeks hands on training at the local UNV. Given 6 Routers and a couple switches to build RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, WAN frame relay and ACLs. Learned how to build networks. The test required 2-3 weeks of consistently studying. Reading the book, videos, boson ect. I believe it comes how much interest you have in this field, desire ect. To get passed wout any formal training or experience.. You must have both.
    Good luck w 2 bro!
