    Why would they lol?

On the Cisco website it does state that in order to qualify for CCNP you must have a valid CCNA. It might be bets if you try to attain your CCNP while the iron is hot. You could wait four years but by that time your CCNA would have expired. And of course unless your constantly involved with Cisco things you might find yourself not knowing the difference between OSPF and EIGRP (especially if you have not been involved with it after 4 years)

I think MrXpert is on the money. Unless you practice or work with cisco everyday you'll begin to forget the stuff fairly fast, so either you can keep going over the CCNA stuff while you look for a job, or you can start studying in other areas, such as for CCNP which not only will give you more knowledge, but will reinforce the stuff you've learned in the CCNA.

Ultimately it is your decision in the end but I am currently doing my CCNP with the intent of taking the exams when I am good and ready.

Well I just bought the Cisco certified study guide by Todd Lammle. It has 16 chapters around 45 pages each.

I read the 1st chapter and got about 65% so I have figured that I should read each chapter twice to gain top marks. And do the tests a few times.

Which means about 32 days of studying (1 chapter per day). In my schedule that's about 3 months?

    Does this sound reasonable?

Are there any software I can download to help me?

    Cheers.

@wallpaper_01..Just that book won't help trust me..I finished with all the chapters scoring good marks and then when I sat for one of the mock exams from transender I could score only 65%.There are a lot of things missing in the Todd book. For ICN1 Todd is enough but for CCNA composite I would suggest ODOM's both 1&2 with Todd..thats how I am preparing at least.

@palit thanks! Is this the book your are referring to? Do you suggest just reading ODOM and dropping Lammle totally?
