I'd recommend looking into Cisco certs, starting with the
path towards CCNA
. By the time you've got a year of experience working the helpdesk, having a cert like the CCNA under your belt is a pretty good way to help you move towards something more networking-focused with a bit more responsibility and (hopefully) a bit more pay. If you find that you're enjoying that type of work, continuing up that Cisco-pyramid is highly recommended, as is looking at other certs, (such as the ones offered by
Juniper
.)
