Open Source imaging software
Does anyone know of any good open source imaging software besides Ghost for Linux and Clonezilla? Here is the issue I have. Do to a promotion at work, I will eventually have to pass on the managing and deployment of the Ubuntu image I built for our developers to use. Clonezilla is terrific since I have to pass all of this off eventually to my fellow co-workers and it will be easy to train them on it's use. They do not possses enough knowledge with regards to Linux outside of a novice user let alone build and maintain images. The issue with Clonezilla is your stuck with having to clone an image on a like for like or larger sized HDD. Without having to duplicate my efforts again and build a whole new image on a much smaller capacity sized drive, I want to find an open source imaging solution that will be simplistic with it's usage and allow them to image machine without having to worry about HDD capacity. I'm open to all suggestions.

I've been debating which backup program to use from Todo Backup and the following:
Free Hard Disk Backup and Restore, Hard Disk Image and Cloning Utilities (thefreecountry.com)
I started to go with Clonezilla, but found the HD size limitation when copying to a smaller HD.
Have you tried out the FOG Project yet? -
Claymoore Member Posts: 1,637How about MDT? At it's heart, MDT is just a collection of VB scripts so anything you can script (in a language that MST understands or can be passed to the PC) can be run as a task sequence. Check out this thread:
Deploy win7 and linux image with MDT
