Interesting hiring stats.

There were 7 of us in new employee orientation last week. We were told that for EACH of our positions there were thousands of applications sent in. Of those thousands roughly 35 to 40 were chosen for a phone screening. Of those, only about 17 made it to the final interview. Only 1 out of 17 were given an offer.
To make it even more interesting, about half of us in the room didn't even apply, the recruiter found us.
The hiring manager giving us these stats, had filled 50 open positions this year... That's a lot of interviews!

tpatt100 Member Posts: 2,991 ■■■■■■■■■□Two of my jobs were not even advertised, the HR department looked through Monster and Dice. I have a sneaking suspicion that for my current job I was the first person interviewed and hired because I was offered the job a few days after the interview... That could be a bad thing or a good thing depending on how you look at it.
