    You do not have to take the A+ if you do not want to. I do not have the A+, but I do have the Network+. I have not studied for the A+ either, but I had the experience and other training to make up for it. As long as you understand the basics for networking and configuring PCs, you should be okay for the Network+ when it comes time.

    Like you are doing with the A+, I used Test Out for the Network+. Review, review and review. Find what works best for you and do it again.

    That being said, depending on what direction you are wanting to go, you may want to go back and take the A+ when you are financially able. It may help you get your foot in the door somewhere.

    Best of Luck.

    Hi
    You can take Network+ without taking A+.

    @Andremcullins: logical step after passing Network+ would be Security+. And then Cisco <CCENT, CCNA>

    It actually recommended to use more than 1 source. You can use Mike Meyers "All-In-One Guide" Network+, and Todd Lammle Network+, professor Messer videos. Google Network+ practice test, some of them are free some you have to pay.

    on the other note: DO NOT USE BRAINDUMPS!!

    What are braindumps/why should we not use them?

    @Chrono

    Braindumps are cheating websites.

    Wooow I must say that it was more than I had expected. I have no previous networking experience at all. I did take one class months ago but it went so fast that i didn't learn anything. Let me say to anyone that will be taking the test to use all the resources that you have. The test seems to give me more questions that I either got right or got wrong. I did not see a big variation of questions. The test will give you quite a bit of easy questions that if you have done any studying at all you will know the answers. The best advice I can give is DO NOT SECOND GUESS YOURSELF!!!!!! Trust what you have learned and go with your first choice.

    I can recall a few questions that I hadn't seem before. I do recall some questions on ping and the different ping commands. Also a few questions on ADSL not many on subnetting or OSI Model.

    none of the comptia tests require any prerequisites to take however from my experience they build upon each other like building blocks.
