Career Changers

I would like to suggest the creation of a "Career Changers" sub-forum or even a sticky in the "IT Jobs / Degrees" forum. I am a career changer and I am sure there are others like me who would love to learn from the experiences of those who have been made the transition successfully. I would like to learn what motivated you to switch careers to IT. What steps did you take to get into IT? Was it the degree route or the certification route or a combination? What was the role of networking (as in knowing people ) in the development of your career? What keeps you motivated to continue learning and developing yourself?
I would love to hear from people like JDMurray and others. JDMurray, how in deuce's name did you get from a BA in Anthropology to an MSIT in Information Security and tons of industry certifications (I read your LinkedIn page)?
Maybe I am just regurgitating stuff that has been repeated time and time again in these forums but it is all new and interesting to me.
Thanks.

70P6BV8: that is very inspirational - any tips? Did you go directly to college or did you get a couple of certifications and worked in IT before doing your degree?Fall 2014: Start MA in Mathematics [X]

It's always good to broaden perspectives.2012 Goals: A+, Network+ by the end of the summer; one other certification before the New Year (haven't decided on MS or Cisco, or something else)
