Scope Of Work help?

I need to write up a document detailing the scope of work I want done for a project. It has to go out to contractors to bid on. I assume this is a little different from a Statement of Work right? Which is what the chosen vendor would create specifically for me?
Never done one of these before. Not sure how fancy or technical they need to be. I assume I need to account for everything I want the chosen vendor to do from start to finish. As well as any type of certification or credential requirements (Microsoft or VMWare Partner for example.)
Can any of you project pros lend some tips or places where I can templates/examples?
The project in question is for VMWare View. Vendor is to recommend appropriate hardware and software needed. Then they need to show up here and install everything, test some tasks/functions with me and do some knowledge transfer with me before completion.
