SCJP certfication details

I am going to complete my B.Tech in April.I want to attend for Java Certfications.Till now I do not attend for any certfication.I thought SCJP is good for me.Am I suitable for the exam.If yes please send me theexam details and which exam I want to write.Also send the famous book authors names which are suitable for exam.In my opinion Head first is better.Suggest me any better books other than this.

The legacy Sun Java programming certifications (SCJA, SCJP, etc.) have been replaced by the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Java Programming (OCPJP) certifications. I do not believe it is possible to test for any of the Sun Certified Professional (SCP) Java certifications, but SCP cert holder can upgrade to the newer OCP Java certs.

You can get the OCPJP 6 (1Z0-851) cert for Java 6, or you can go for the newest OCP Java SE 7 Programmer (1Z0-804) cert.
