Is this a good pay for tier 1 position?

Hello Everyone,
I am currently making $15.00 as a contractor for my first job as level 1 help desk and I believe today the manager had talked to me about bringing me on as a full time employee after 6 months with a increase to $18.00.
How many of you think for my first IT job as a level one help desk that is good starting pay. I'm just curious of what others had made in there help desk position.

Yeah that's about normal. I know people in helpdesk that make 11,12, and 13 an hour. So you're good right now and especially if you get 18.

With Fankee on this one. 14-18 is about normal for tier 1. 18-22 for tier 2.

Yeah that's pretty standard/go for Tier 1. I started at 16.38, pumped to about $19 an hour 8 months later at a different company, and currently at $21 an hour.

I started at $11, but our cost of living here is pretty low. Everyone else in my position was only making $10.

    Hello Keeranbri:

I think that is a good pay start of $15.00, I too here in NC was offered $15.00 hr; for Tier-1 Help Desk, I have a B.S. in Information Systems, trying to get off to getting my foot in the door. Yes, no experience
Experience and studing for the A+, N+.

That was what I made at my tier1 support position and I'm in the Bay Area which means that figure would look good almost anywhere.

Never mind the fact that I started in the mid 90's :]

I've seen people make $30 an hour doing level 1 work. Depends on the company and if you know your stuff.

I started at $18 and hour with 3M in 2005 in Columbia, MO. However, I have seen jobs posted for less than you are making that wanted 3-5 years experience. Yes there are higher paying level 1 positions, but there are also lower paying higher level positions. Sounds like a good start to me.

Started helldesk ~10 1/2 months ago. Started off making $12.50/hr and 10 months later to this day, I'm still making the same thing. Funny though, I was promised (or so it sounded) the same thing from the people I worked for and still nothing. It's fine though, I've been revising my resume to find something that will get me some networking experience.
