Still not liking the "private cloud" being in the title of a cert.

They have updated some stuff on the MCITP page.
MCITP certifications will not be updated for future versions of Microsoft products. In most cases, as an MCITP, you will be eligible for special upgrade paths to new Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certifications. Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE) is focused on an experienced professional’s ability to design and build technology solutions in the cloud and on premise.
Your MCITP certification will remain valuable as long as companies are using the technology on which it certifies.
    Q. Does MCSA equate to MCITP: Server Administrator and does MCSE equate to MCITP: Enterprise Administrator?

    A.
No, not exactly. The MCITP on Windows Server 2008 certification requires a new skill set—in some cases, a more robust one—that differs from the skill set needed for MCSA and MCSE certifications.
    • MCITP: Server Administrator certification covers more operations-related job skills than the MCSA certification.
    • MCITP: Enterprise Administrator maps to an actual job role profile, whereas the MCSE certification does not. The latter combines technology and job skills.

The only thing I can see for certain is that we will probably be bent over by Microsoft... I was interested in learning SQL 2012 but then I saw it took 5 exams and if I am reading this right then I might need the MCSE for MCSE SQL 2012... but I could be reading that totally wrong. Now if SQL was 5 exams I dread to think how many exams the others will be. I think I'll let it settle for a while and see what horrific mess it turns out to be in the end.

    Q. Expert-level certifications don't include a product version number. How will I show what product versions my certification covers?

    A.
Your transcript has a section that shows all the exams you have passed. Each exam title will include the technology version in the name.

Have to role my eyes a bit at that. From now on, whenever I see MCSA or MCSE on a resume, I'll be comfortable in knowing it can be one of four different certifications spanning over a decade.

So MCITP:SA = MCSA but MCITP:EA is unchanged? So confused, lol

This is what I noticed, now you have similar certifications, one which is supposed to demonstrate a higher level of expertise with two complete different naming schemes. But I would think another change is coming. As MCSE has certs for MCSE: Private Cloud and MCSE: SQL Server 2012 --- so I predict a MCSE: Enterprise version for Server 8 / Server 2008 in the future.
You will continue to earn an MCTS for passing Exams 70-640 and 70-642 until April 2013. Until April 2013, when you earn an MCSA: Windows Server 2008 certification, you will also receive the MCITP: Server Administrator certification. After April 2013, the MCITP: Server Administrator certification will be discontinued.

Also looks like anyone receiving the MCITP: Server Admin 2008 within the next year could claim 2 certs LOL

Just give up on Microsoft certs, go after the Oracle Management Generalist cert instead.

I make a note of what OS versions on my resume, I don't try to b.s. my way in. If it gets old I just drop the cert off all together.

WTF! It's not like MCITP:SA and MCITP:EA are hard enough to get used to, now we have to clarify which MCSE and MCSA? Argh!

If someone has a MCSE from the NT 4.0 days wants a job dealing with Active Directory, you bet I'd want clarification.....[earned during the hey days of the MCSE making six-figure salaries....]

How could they makes this statement when they've posted the exact same cert path? Or do they mean MCSA (Server 2003) and not the new MCSA (Server 2008 Admin)?

I've been given business cards with MCSE on it, not an OS mentioned on it.. you'd have to ask, but MCSE is enough for a lot of people - it should be straight forward but it's not.

Those are actually old and MCSA and MCSE in those quotes refer to the original titles or administrator and engineer. I remember quoting the same text on TE in 2008/2009.

    Certification Overview

MCSE SQL and MCSE Private Cloud?

It looks like MS is pulling a MOS to MCAS back to MOS again, but this time on the technology side.

Interesting that the certifications will be once again called MCSE. This is great news and I am excited to see this!

I find it weird though they refer to the 2008 server path as the MCSE 2008. Do you think they will do a mid lifecycle name change like they did with MS 2007 office suite? Microsoft Certified Application Specialist back to Microsoft Office Specialist.

    Interesting and enjoy

It looks like the MCITP:SA is now the MCSA 2008 MCSA: Windows Server 2008 Certification

Go get you SUM new certz

    Interesting…

The big problem with is that I don’t see a lot of companies embracing “Cloud Technology”….
Is SQL server 2012 only in the cloud? Does Microsoft charge money for you to use their cloud based services?

All this cloud stuff is confusing.

I guess the second shot won’t be around this year, since Microsoft is promoting this deal

No, that is new. It says "...upgrade paths to new Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certifications."

The old MCSE was not "Solutions Expert"

I am probably going to hit the "Cloud" cert path eventually once I get the MCSA (new done). Might help as a keyword buzzword on the job boards, who knows.

That gag is so popular and old, I figured Google would help you out with that, but yeah that's it.

I was mindful enough to mention that last bit because you're not on this side of the pond and might not get the baseball reference. But it's more about the basemen's names than anything else....

Looks like that is changing to MCSM though... and that still has these certs as prerequisites.

Ok, I've looked at the Microsoft cert link, plus looked at my transcripts.

What will end up happening to the EA cert? From what I have garnered, it would appear that it stands by itself.

It looks like the MCSA 2K8 (formerly the cert known as MCITP:SA) will be a precursor to the MCSE "Private Cloud" which will require two cloud exams to earn the MCSE.

Sounds like earning the EA would have been a waste of time. F--- what Microsoft states officially; this was done so that people can still hire MCSE (whatever the ---- it means then and now) and keep the letters as they are so popular within IT certification circles. In fact, the MCSE is more popular than the CCIE (in terms of name recognition.)

    What do you guys think?

I've come across another one like that I can't find it.. it was based on Chinese people's names.. not racist or anything just played on the confusion of the peoples names. It was probably copied off that though - thanks for the laugh, it sums up the situation very aptly.
