So Ive been putting together a home lab over the past few months. Currently its as follows:

3x2610
1x3550
1x2950

The 2610's were an accident, well they were a result of a piss poor auction listing. Either was I got screwed. A local guy has a 2950 and a 2950T for sale. I want the 2950T so that I can have a poor mans Cisco gigabit switch using the gig ethernet ports. My question is, is it worth to pick up the other 2950 just because? He only wants $20. For my goals, Im currently in school, but evenetly plan on CCNA and CCNP eventually. Or should I just save my money for more 3550's.

at this point, 3550's have gotten dirt cheap on ebay, to the point where I don't think it's worth listing the 3550's I replaced with 3560's, so I'd just go for them instead

You can get the little better 2620s instead of 2610s for only about $35 on ebay with free shipping.
Nevermind, I see you already got the 2610s :/

For $20, 2950 can be used as Access Switch, and cover many areas of CCNA exam.

How would you use a 2950 as an access switch? Or do you mean at the access layer of the Cisco model?

I meant as distro switch, not core.

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. I'm not really sure what an access switch is used for so I guess I'll just see if he offers a deal for both of them. I agree with you forsaken about the 3560s as I'll need atleast one at some point.
