Hello, anybody using these to turn one of the 26xx routers for vpn use?

azaghul Member Posts: 569 ■■■■□□□□□□From my understanding the routers already support VPN. All the AIM-VPN's do is off-load that functionallity from the CPU to lighten its load.

SteveO86 Member Posts: 1,423Depends on how many VPN tunnels you are trying to terminate. (as well as how much data those VPNs will be encrypting/decrypting)
Also keep in mind the 2600's are pretty old. You got 2800's and 2900's out nowadays.My Networking blog

There were/are Cisco VPN concentrators like Cisco 3000 etc.

I guess what I am trying to understand is what would a dedicated appliance such as PIX or VPN concentrator do over enabling vpn in a basic routers we use in our CCNA labs?
This page for example specifically lists 1841, 2800 and 3800 series routers, but does not list 26xx or 36xx. Why is that?
