I am not sure actually. But what I can tell you is the test is Red Hat centric so I would study using Fedora Core or CentOS. Not to rain on your parad but becoming a Linux Certified Professional (LCP) is probably a better idea. I work with a guy who is Linux+ and even he says the cert is kind of pointless. My instructer, who teaches Linux at my school, also has told me to go for the LCP instead of Linux+. Either way, if you are looking to get into the Linux market, I'm sure the Linux+ won't hurt :) Good luck! Just remember that the test will be based on Red Hat (ie httpd.conf not apache.conf! :)!

    Does LCP ever expire?

Just reamber that the linux+ cert is being revised so instead of 6 mos exp it will be 6-12 monthes so the value of this cert may go up. I am currently studying for this test and using Linux+ cert bible which is good for the linux stuff but don't have much of the hardware stuff that is on the test, and good luck on the test.

I don't think the LCP ever expires, but I could be wrong. Googling it yielded nothing.

Yeah, I tried aswell. If it didn't expire. I'd probably go for level one during my school year, and not bother going for linux+

    General Information About LPI Recertification

Once a person is certified by LPI and receives an LPI designation (LPIC-1, LPIC-2), recertification is recommended every ten years from the date the first exam of the level was passed to retain an active certification status. Recertification is a process whereby the certificant demonstrates ongoing efforts to maintain and/or enhance their Linux system administrator skills. Recertification assures the public, as well as employers and other stakeholders, that the certificant remains committed to keeping their Linux skills and knowledge current.

    As per: http://www.lpi.org/en/recertification.html
