Hi there,
I have just started to think about taking my 70-647 exam to become an MCITP:EA so I get automatically updated to the new MCSA certification. After reading up on the new certification i`ve noticed that you can either be an MCITP:SA or an MCITP:EA to become certified with the new MCSA.
Would I be correct in saying that I could actually take either the 70-646 or the 70-647 exam to get the MCSA credential?
Many thanks, Mark

If you were done with just the 70-640 and 642, then I'd do the 646 to wrap up the MCSA and MCITP: SA. -

Since you have your MCSA on Server 2003, you're going to need to take 70-648 as an upgrade, (which equates to 70-640 and 70-642,) and then take the remaining exam(s).
In your case, you're looking at the following path(s) to upgrade:
70-648 + 70-646 >> MCITP: Server Administrator
70-648 + 70-643 + 70-680 + 70-647 >> MCITP: Enterprise Administrator
