making career change

So, I am looking to shift my career from computer animation into IT. I plan to and am currently job hunting for a help desk job or entry level computer tech. One thing I am wondering about is how exactly should I put together a resume when I currently have no certs(will be taking A+ in a month) and my degree is in Game Art. I am not really sure what I can use to give myself some sort of resume to make me a viable candidate for a job.

If you worked primarily in computer animation, I would think your resume should reflect that. You didn't delve into your animation experience, but I would think that is better than no IT experience...I would even go so far as to say, it's IT related. What's the reason for the shift in career?

I have done some free lance work and side projects, but never got on-site company work. I live about 40 miles outside of San Francisco and game development wise there is not a lot of companies bringing on new people. Between the struggles of finding a job and the fact that my wife is active duty in the Air Force, switching to IT just makes more sense. I will hopefully be working significantly close to home(not leaving base) eventually. Also, if she gets orders to go to another base, there is no telling if there will be any animation companies remotely close. I know I most likely have some ways to go before I can get into some DoD stuff, even as help desk. But my end goal is to get into network admin here on base.
