I would opt for neither. The CCNA is not so complicated that it requires courses. A good book (Odom or Lammle), a good simulator (Netsim or Packet Tracer), and a couple months of effort should have you ready to pass. If you have a strong technical aptitude or some prior knowledge you may be able to do it sooner.

I have the all the CBTNuggets ICND1 and 2, Packet Tracer, and the actual ICND1&2 exam study guides. You are right, the CCNA is not complicated at all, i'm grasping everything quite well but I am currently unemployed and do not have the money to purchase the actual test myself. I have been self studying and I actually have a grant that will pay for the CCNA and the test(which is my main concern) these two facilities are my options. I just want to know which facility would be the better one to attend New
    Horizons or Microtrain

Depends on how good you are on self-study and motivation... self-study is the best route to go with CCENT/CCNA. I have heard good things about New Horizons (from third party non-techies) but honestly why would I fork over 2K for training that essentially is someone reading out a book. I don't think these trade schools are really worth it unless your company forks over the money, and even then, 2K is a lot of money. Enough money to build an elite CCIE rack and learn networking from the ground up.

I've seen several negative comments about New Horizon here--mostly about scamming newbies with fake interviews and offers--and nothing about Microtrain. If someone were covering both the class and the exam (sounds fishy), I'd skip the classes and take the exam! Best of luck to you. :)

Thanks Network Veteran, ive done the due diligence about Microtrain. I know people who have actually been to Microtrain and enjoyed it and have attained their certification. But it wasn't the CCNA, so I just wanted to make a good decision about the institution I chose for that particular Cert. I wanted to see if anyone here in this forum may have had any experiences with either one of the above mentioned training facilities.

I don't think that I've posted before so this may be my first. I've been trolling around for a while but figured I'd throw in my 2 cents. Years ago I went to new horizons for my mcsa and ccna. After being a little to cocky I finished my mcsa, i've since started to re-study for the ccna.

With all that said I enjoyed New Horizons. The instructors were great. It was nice to have someone that can answer your questions and explain it to you (again and again if needed). Forums are a great resource but having someone in person can be more helpful.

    Good luck!
