Palo Alto is offering a free e-book download of "Modern Malware for Dummies" by Lawrence C. Miller, CISSP. I haven read it yet, just came across it today, and downloaded it. Figured a few people here might be interested in this freebie.

Despite this being a security appliance vendor-inspired (Palo Alto Networks) publication, it contains very good information and certainly worth reading. SSCP candidates should read it as part of their preparation for the SSCP CBK Malicious Code and Activity domain.

I received a dead-tree edition of this book, (along with a whole slew of other security-related ". . . For Dummies" books,) at the RSA Conference this past year. For the most part, they were all pretty good, this one included.

Downloaded this one before we went to PAN's campus at Santa Clara - saw Nir Zuk that day too! Haven't read it yet but hopefully someday I'll be able to read it as well.

Just a side note, Fortinet wrote a book about UTMs if anybody is interested.
