Yes and no. I think with MSP's it has caused the salaries of the "IT professionals" to go up as MSP's are on a for profit basis and not having the best means your competition will have them on there staff.
The flip side of this is that a lot of "IT Geeks" have been forced out of jobs or they have been turned to vendor managers, because a company can pay a MSP less than the salary of a good IT guy and have access to Specialist in every discipline.Currently Reading

Yes. People are definitely being paid less money now in lower-level jobs like help desk or tech support and many MSPs retain people on a multi-month contract basis to save money instead of full-time or they try to get people on board as contract-to-hire but never hire them after their contract has been extended over and over. Where I live, MSPs have taken over many of the private sector IT jobs that once went to direct hires and have switched a lot of companies over to per-incident field servicing instead of having full-time on-site IT support.
