Is there a simulator I can use or is it only real equipment. My budget is extra tight right now. I ve been in the TDM world for a long time. At present work on a Nortel CS2100 TDM/voip large carrier grade switch. So no real Cisco voip to play with a work. Ive seen ccna voip labs on ebay for around $500 not sure what I'm getting. thoughts and help.

Another decent option is Online rack rentals. CCIE Voice Rack Rental Vouchers | IPexpert Inc. I know that it is for CCIE but the CCNA Voice touches on CUCM, Unity Connection, Presence & CME. This rental has all those components. You can't beat $25 for an 8 hour session either! My advice to anyone looking to advance their career would be to learn DevOps tools and methodologies. Learn how to write code in languages like Python and JavaScript. Not to be a programmer, but a network automation specialist who can do the job of 10 engineers in 1/3 of the time. Create a GitHub account, download PyCharm, play with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet. Automation isn't the future, it's here today and the landscape is changing dramatically.
