If you leave a policy as "Not Defined", what settings would be applied? For example on the policy 'password must meet complexity requirement', is Not Defined the same as disabled?

Are you talking about GPOs in AD?

I am talking about Local Security Policy in Win xp but I wouldn't mind knowing about GPO's either.

Not defined = policy has never been in use or will be used
Enabled = policy in use
Disabled = policy was in use and later taken out of use

My question is what kind of effect would 'Not Defined' have on the security policy as opposed to Disabled or Enabled?
