Should I take CCENT instead of Net+?

Hey guys, was wondering if its better to just take CCENT instead of Net+, or do you recommend doing both? Is it redundant to have net+ if you already have CCENT? I'm most interested in importance to employers/what ever will help more in getting a position.

Please advise.

take net+, it will give you a good foundation to work off of when you go for your ccent. int terms of employers, yes the ccent is much more respected in my opinion.

if you can afford it, take both considering they overlap in many areas, with CCENT focusing on basic IOS commands. IMHO i don't think either really carries that much weight, unless you're working in the public sector which the Network+ will be more "valuable".

My opinion , I was in the same situation , what I did I read the comptia network+ and learn the network foundation but I did not bother to take the exam because it make no sense if you have a ccent, that covers pretty much everything , take the ccent and move on to icnd2 , yes, I said move on to icnd2 , you have to , because neither network+ or ccent will give a wuaooo to an employer , unless you are already on the field, if so, then is your call .

If I had my time over again regarding Net+ or CCENT, I believe I would have taken CCENT instead since most employers around here seem to hold it in greater favour than Net+. But if this is a location dependant thing, Australia seemingly rates CCENT higher on job boards than Net+.

    Depends honestly

If you want a high level overview of networking non vendor specific network + is good

If you want to work towards a more technicial role I would jump into the CCENT and then go into the CCNA. I like the CCENT because it gives you something else to work to when you get done. Network + is one and done.

Network+ certifies general knowledge of Networking. CCENT is Cisco vendor specific. Only go the CCENT route if you are planning on following it up with CCNA. Otherwise, I'd say go with Net+

This actually makes sense here. I have been working on Cisco products and am still in the networking field as a contractor. I plan to get my Net+ first because I see a lot of jobs looking for this for some reason as a gauge for 'knowing' how to network if that makes sense.. I say look in your area at jobs and see what they require the most as a start. But if you are interested in Cisco products I say go for both it wont hurt.

camoman it will hurt the packet with 250$ more , and at least here in New York network+ is the same as nothing .

I'm lucky that found this site with alot of help. Actually, I had the same question like yours before and finally I decided to read net+ book first to have a foundation then will read ccna book later.
