Iv been reading The Mike Meyers Comptia Network+ Passport 3rd edition and there conflicting information on pages 49 and 50
on page 49 it says 802.11N is backwards compatible with A/B/G/N
However on page 50 on the chart it show thats N is only compatible with B/G/N
In my head it makes sense that N would work with A since a is 5Ghz and N is 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz but is this actually the case since on the very next page its contradicting itself:
Im taking it Monday and I don't want to get that question wrong.

Found a answer to this.
Legacy Mode – This mode makes it possible for older standards such a 802.11a/b/g network cards to communicate with a 802.11n router. Capable of communicating with both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz frequency band equipment, legacy mode will help you avoid having to completely replace all of your wireless networking hardware when upgrading to wireless n. Not all 802.11n equipment, however, will support the aging 802.11a 5GHz standard. If you are still using this standard, it is definitely time to upgrade and enjoy faster wireless network speeds and ranges anyway.
But this brings to mind a different question. Since Legacy mode is iffy...what is the correct Comptia answer?http://paulswansonblog.wordpress.com/
