WilByte Member Posts: 57 ■■□□□□□□□□Sorry Snaginwy, I got you beat at "50". I may be old, but I got alot of work experience. I have always been a "mechanical mind", repairing most anything, power tools to complete, auto restorations. Raced bicycles, 4wheel drives and drag cars. I just recently became obsessed with Computers. Now, for phase two of my life..........."In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity"

Unless there's someone here over 48, I guess I'm the oldest kid on the block.
I just graduated (May 2004) with an Ass' of Bus' in 'puter Tech, A+ certified, Network+, and workin' on MCSA - and just started (July) workin' for a small computer service shop - and all the while - still learnin' new stuff every day. I've been around since Windows 3.11 and DOS, and early Macintosh (1994).
Age (at 45) ain't nearly as important as just breathin' (and livin')!Give me courage to change the things I can
Serenity to accept the things I can't

Ghent Member Posts: 310I'm 20 but feel about 10 years older (the day after you get married 10 years get added due the stress of maturing 1000% in 24 hour ). I've been playing arround with computers since about the 7th grade, and started doing so professionally right after high school. Started out doing the helpdesk thing for about a year, but now I've moved up to essentially an assistant DBA (as soon as I finish up my Oracle certs I'm hoping to change that to senior DBA).Prais'd be the fathomless universe, for life and joy, and for objects and knowledge curious.' I got a great compliment from younger (about 22) student today...we were chatting and I mentioned that I was married and have been for a few years, and she said, "WHAT, how old are you?!" I told her almost 34 and she said "Wow, I knew this was your second bachelors but I thought you just graduated, you look so young!" Nothing makes a woman in her 30's smile quite as big as telling her that she's still looking like she's in her 20's!!Currently Studying For: Nothing (cert-wise, anyway)
Next Up: Security+, 291?

ally_uk Member Posts: 1,145 ■■■■□□□□□□I'm 23 soon to be 24, My passion with computers started when I was 8 my first rig was a 286 Tandy running Windows 3.1.
I have been in the I.T game for four years I worked on a help desk originally supported 250+ users on a daily basis in a windows environment. Troubleshooting hardware and software, Updates, Audits, Handling Tickets, Troubleshooting network connectivity issues, excessive tea making it was all there.
I now work for a Social Enterprise as an I.T Technician we specialise in collecting I.T waste from companies and i'm the poor sod who refurbishes the equipment and gets it ready for sale to the public. We are a small project and a limited budget means I do more then one job. I am a I.T salesman, It's good working because you get to work with alot of hardware Ive seen it all Macs, Sparcs, Pc's, Amstrads lol and BBC's. I also previously used to help the network admin by providing 1st line support to external projects. I am also in charge of a repair service which I book in the machines and run it solely. It's here in this Job I was introduced to Linux, And I became interested in it. Lastly I train clients from a vunerably housed background and teach them I.T, My role is very challenging but it's rewarding.
Currently I am looking at starting with the MCDST, I am also in the process of just generally tinkering with Linux, I am teaching myself Samba and how to Setup a network so that Linux and Windows can Coexist in harmony.
My future plans I feel will involve providing open source network solutions to companies, i have a heavy interest in Linux although I am also heavily into Windows so I basically would also like to go for a MCSE oneday.
And that's me and my lifeMicrosoft's strategy to conquer the I.T industry

jnwdmb Member Posts: 99 ■■□□□□□□□□I am 31....almost 32 actually ......sheesh......It really slips away doesn't it? I worked in manufacturing for 13 years (right out of high school) with 9 of those in management. In that time period I was overseeing some projects in R & D so I picked up some AutoCAD 14, 2000LT, Pro-E solid modeling, and Mastercam experience. Always had an interest in computers but never had the time to invest into it. Last winter I was laid off from a company and decided to change careers instead of just jumping to another job. I actually started studying in April 2008 and since have accumulated seven certs.....really enjoying it. The only drawbacks have been that I had to move to another state (closer to family because I am a full time single father) and I had to liquidate all my savings, stocks, and actually accumulate a bit of debt to reach this point. Didn't know I was going to be changing careers in the worst economic downturn in my lifetime, but I couldn't picture myself happy if I had to do that for 30 more years.A+ IT Technician, Network +, Security+
