im a network noob and in need for help!! lol
hi everyone i need some help i have server 2003 running in vmware on my mack book pro i have set up a dc and i want to plug my other laptop in to my macbook via ethernet cable so i can do stuff in ad i just wondered can this work? many thanks for your advice

RobertKaucher Member Posts: 4,299 ■■■■■■■■■■I would put static IPs on both laptops for the interfaces they will be using to connect and a static on the Server 2003 system. You could allow the laptops to use Link Local (APIPA) but that can sometimes be a pain and may not get you what you want. You will also need to understand the networking system used by your VM software.
I would highly suggest that you spend about a week getting your head around the material that is covered by the Network+ exam - even if you have no intention what-so-ever of taking the exam. This will help you a lot in your studies and allow you to move faster as you create your own lab scenarios. IMO, every IT person, even developers and DBAs, should have that basic level of networking knowledge. -
