Your opinion pleaseeee

Hi , is so difficult for new network guys to build a proper resume without any field experience, but I tried this one that I am about show you , my purpose is just to find an internship because I am lacking experience , do you think this is good enough or should I modified it ?

I would recommend lowering your expectations for an entry level gig. If you can get a NOC job babysitting, go for that but if that fails, get a help desk gig

Thank you Iristheangel , every engineer here in nyc tell me that with my ccna I will be able to start somewhere ,at least an internship , how possible do you think that is?

Probably not very realistic in NYC without any experience. Baby steps... You need to learn to crawl before you can run

I have written more than a few of these lately so I'll try and give a little advice. Take it for what you will as I'm sure there are some people out there who would disagree with me.

Chances are you will end up with some form of NOC-1 or Helpdesk position to start, which I don't know why people have such a negative outlook on Helpdesks I've had one or two really awesome experiences in them.

In your skills section, since you have some room instead of just listing out things elaborate on how you used them, what sort of grasp do you have on the technology? What sort of projects have you undertaken? etc.

Also you have not highlighted or mentioned your soft-skills at all. Are you good at customer service? Client relationships? Incident resolution. These are things that are vital to entry positions as chances are you are going to start at some sort of support level.

In my opinion, and from experience. If you don't have much Professional/Certification experience you really need to get across your passion in a professional manner. Recruiters (especially IT/Helpdesk Managers) wanna see that you have that love of technology that you're always fiddling , playing and getting your hands dirty.

From a resume perspective, its a little light in areas. Which is an issue, because you never wanna BS on a resume..but you also want to look like you have something to bring to the table.

And finally. Be realistic - If you think you are going to get a mid-level Network Enginner/Network Admin job with a CCENT you might want to re-evaluate your expectations and ensure that they are in line with your experience.

Mutata , thank you for your review , but what I am really looking for is for an internship ( none paid ) , I will take what you suggested me and add soft skills , I am just starting to build my resume that's why I created this thread ,

Iristheangel , how can someone learn without starting somewhere ? I don't know but how's that possible ? To find an internship do they ask me for experience too ? The reason of an internship is to get the experience , or am I wrong here?

I honestly think internships/co-ops are a great way to go, I have benefitted from them greatly. I had two of them through college, one of which landed me my first contract (along with both co-ops being paid).

Chances are still likely you will get a entry-levelish internship, use the opportunity to get hands in everything.

I may be misunderstanding what you are looking for. Most internships are geared towards college students with no experience. Are you still in school? If not perhaps you are aiming too low. If I saw your resume and you applied for an internship, i would wonder if you were over qualified. I know that my comment is diametric to @iristheangel's but I agree with her in the sense that perhaps going for a NOC position or helpdesk may get you more leads.

If your good at what you do and you know the right people, you will be able to land your self a nice job. If not, then expect to start at the Help Desk / NOC level.

Let me clarify: The OP was stating that all the internships that he was finding required some kind of experience. I wouldn't discourage him from applying for those but to also adjust his expectations if he doesn't get a callback. May internships are geared towards college students or trade school students. If he can get a direct internship dealing with networking without being enrolled in school and only having a CCENT, then go for it! It's a great way to start. If you can't get accepted into an internship, then try going for a NOC job (ideal) or help desk role (less than ideal but it's a start). Have a backup plan for what you're going to go for if you can't get the internship you want. Don't give up, just keep applying

Internships requiring experience is pretty common, I had that a ton of times. Even with internships you'll find you have to work your way up, they still seem to want you to start at the Helpdesk

Without question, apply for as much as you can. If you get your Network dream job then thats great! But even if you get offered a less than ideal Helpdesk offer see it through. You never know how much you'll get to do as not all Helpdesk roles are created equally.

Thank you very much for your suggestions , I was thinking to get my comtia A+ after I am done with my icnd2 , or should I just jump into ccna voice? I really would't like to focus to much out of the networking side but if for me to get into IT I have to do it for a while I will do it.
