Job Opportunity - IT Sourcing Company

Well, recently I was offered a position for a IT outsource specialist company, CompuCom, from a recruiter.
I've been emailed by many various recruiters ranging with different job positions.
This one stood out the most for me, as it was a "Dispatch PC Technician - Field Service Technician" title @ $15.50 with $0.43 /mi reimbursement on a 3-6 month contract.
After some consideration I took the offer. Jumped into it and started the paperwork. 2nd day on the job and I haven't had much issues yet, except the lack of training, and the amount of miles (200 miles) I've driven already to shadow current employees.
I have 1-2 year POS experience, which is what they were looking for.
I guess I'm asking for some feedback from any past & current employers, or anyone that has dealt with this company before.
I'm having second thoughts after some more researching. =[

Recording how far your drove isn't good enough - I was told you should log the number on your ODO when you start driving and when you arrive at your final destination. -

I saw a CompuCom position open in my area a few days back and did some research on the company to learn more. After reading the reviews on glassdoor I decided to pass. It appears your experience driving all over in your personal vehicle is pretty standard for their 'field techs'.
how's the job market in your area looks like? Is it worth slugging it out for the experience? -
Santa_ Member Posts: 131 ■■■□□□□□□□I purchased my vehicle last year. 2011 Subaru STI, so like I mentioned in the 2 days I've been training I've driven 200 miles.
After more research I too saw the same reviews on Glassdoor and other websites that have given me seconds thoughts about taking this position.
One of the field service techs told me he bought his car with 16k, and now after 2 years he has 60k! I'm shocked. I don't want to depreciate the value of my car by adding so many miles so quickly. They told me that their field calls can be all around a certain coverage area. 30-1HR away with about 3-6 jobs a day. Which can pile up the miles very quickly.
I am aware that they do pay for certifications, mainly vendor certs for their POS systems, and Printers, and then some (A+, Net+, Cisco..) , but besides that others have said no growth in placement and no raises (and this have been countless employee's that have said that) I'm not sure if it's based on the area or just the company in general.
Not sure if I should stick with it or see what other opportunities come my way by waiting a bit longer. -

That and its nearly impossible to move up in the company.B.S. Information Technology Management | CompTIA A+ | CompTIA Security+ | Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance (In Progress)

Santa_ Member Posts: 131 ■■■□□□□□□□I currently have 1+ year experience in a POS environment. From new store installations, upgrading, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and configuring, but it wasn't a 8-5 M-F schedule like this is.
I'm not part time, I'm working as full-time. I hear that many contract to hires have the tendency to stay at their current rate, or is that just based on the company and other reasons?
