Amazon Recruiter?

swildswild Member Posts: 828
Looking to get hired by Amazon. Moving to Seattle as soon as I can get a job. Anyone have a Amazon internal recruiter they can hook me up with? I looked on LinkedIn, but all the email addresses I could find bounced back.

Surely out of all the people in this board, someone works for Amazon.

I know one who does work for Amazon, and another who used to. Surprisingly this is a terrible place to work, evidently the treat employees like a heard of cattle in the military. Just beware and do some research.

I'll see if the one I touched base with before still works there.

Why Amazon though? -I'm local to the Seattle area and it definitely isn't one of the first places that I'd look for work at.

Also, What kind of position are you looking for? -I'm quite in touch with the job market in the area and could definitely forward some positions your way.

I like Amazon because I like a challenge. They are a massive company and a great place to learn some real world security experience. The bigger you are, the more you are attacked. They also pay relocation assistance for salaried positions which would be very desirable. They also currently have 2800 openings in Seattle.

I still need to research the other major employers and wouldn't be opposed if you have suggestions.

I'm really looking for a security engineer or security analyst position, but would take anything that would pay me to move there. All of my experience thus far has been general IT, but I'm ready to specialize.

So Seattle won in the end?

Good luck on finding a new position.

Yeah Seattle is my top choice. I still consider other places as I get calls from recruiters but I keep thinking that Seattle would be better. I passed up an offer for $50 an hour in Cincinnati. Just couldn't convince myself that I would be happy there.

I know someone that works for Amazon in Seattle, I'll ask him. I've heard nothing but good things about working for Amazon.

I have hear bad things about working in their warehouses, but most of those are run by temp agencies.

If you are still considering exploring outside of Seattle and other industries, you may want to consider a financial services organization. Either a company that processes on behalf of a financial institution or a financial institution itself. A lot of the more sophisticated attacks will target where the money moves so processors are a prime target. Most of the processors try to keep a very low profile but if you dig around - you can find them. And some of them are major Fortune 1000 companies.

I agree 100%, I work for a financial institution. It's a daily battle! Processors are prime targets of almost every attack you can think of. From sophisticated network/software attacks, phishing , to ATM skimming devices to clone cards, it's a never ending battle.

    8 hours interview?
the interview alone, if you land it
they should offer you 80k a year just for that

Longest interview Ive been is around 1 hour and half
Ive had employers who do interview you like 5 times though
