WGU Transcript Evaluation

I received the results on the transcripts I sent to WGU and was surprised to discover that they accepted my entire AAS degree. The degree satisfies all the general education requirements for WGU. Which is crazy because if they did a credit by credit evaluation I would have ended up needing a bunch of general ed classes. I never expected this because I was under the impression that only AA and AS degrees would transfer this way. Now I can jump right into completing IT classes which is the only thing I really want to study anyways.

Associates in Applied Science (AAS)
or
Associates in Arts and Science (AAS)
From what I've seen the second will transfer completely while the first will be credit-by-credit at most universities. -

Are you saying they gave you credit for your entire CCAF? Is your CCAF in Electronic Systems Technology or something else? I'm probably going to enroll soon and I was very curious as to how much of my CCAF would be accepted. This sounds like it may be good news for me.WGU BS: Business - Information Technology Management

I was referring to an Associates of Applied Science. In my area none of the schools offer an Associates of Arts and Science, although there is an Associates of General Studies which is probably the same thing and it's just named that to avoid confusion between having two AAS degrees. -

I started July 1st so I'm not sure if it's too late, but I'm still going to bring this up with my mentor. Thanks! -

You can appeal an evaluation decision but I believe it needs to be immediately after you receive your results. If you've already started it's probably too late. -

Psoasman Member Posts: 2,687 ■■■■■■■■■□I transferred my AAS, leaving me just the humanities, org behavior, and leadership courses. If I remember right, WGU makes an exception for AAS in IT. I'm sure there are some slight differences in the various programs and degrees that would affect an evaluation.

Thanks afcyung,
I've just finished requesting that all of my transcripts be sent to WGU, including the ones from CLEP/DANTES. I had the enrollment counselor wake me up at 3:38 in the morning last night. It kind of stinks to be on Guam sometimes although I love it here and it's a great place. The time difference from the ConUS is a killer though.WGU BS: Business - Information Technology Management

mp3markel Member Posts: 17 ■□□□□□□□□□Raisin, how long has it been since you completed your AAS degree? I obtained a total of 3 A.S. degrees with my local community college, 1 in 2009 than the other 2 in 2010. I was just wondering if the amount of time you received your degrees mattered to what classes would count as credit with WGU. I've already sent WGU 3 transcripts and just waiting on a final one to hopefully find out what transferred over.

The degree was from 2008 and it is IT related.

I was tempted to go for a concentration but decided on the general BSIT degree, because right now I need a bachelors more than I need a CCNA or MCITP. I believe I need 43 CUs, and from what I've been reading on this forum, this is possible in one term if I work hard. Since the bulk of my classes are mainly CIW certs I'm feeling pretty confident about this. I don't think I'd be able to knock out the degree in one term if I had to take any Cisco or advanced Microsoft exams.
