generally any ENTERPRISE level IOS platform will grant you more options than an IP BASE platform. I run Advanced Enterprise on all my routers so I can run the full gamut of configs. can you get a 12.4t ?
12.4(15)T14 c2600-adventerprisek9-mz.124-15.T14.bin cisco says it requires 256 / 48 though its only 33MB
just upgraded all my 2600xm's(6) except 1 to 256/48 , got the ram this week to up my 3660 after lunch.
Just need to find some cheap upgrades for the 3640's and the 1841's.
use feature navigator to check the features in the different images

and generally you want an image with k9 in the name as it has crypto and sshGoals CCNA by dec 2013, CCNP by end of 2014 -

For strictly CCNA studies, you would be fine with IP BASE with k9 for SSH/other encryption. The IOS I used at school was an IP BASE k9 image. When you go to further your studies, though, you'll want to upgrade the IOS.
