"The Veteran's" CCIE Written Thread

The CCIE is important to me.

My family
Myself
CCIE <

I see becoming more technically competent as a good way to boost my salary beyond $150k, which would improve the quality of life I can offer my family and myself.

No! I am not the sort to lock myself in a room indefinitely to achieve this. :)

I expect to spend more time on the written than I strictly need to, to ensure that I fully master the topics, to be stronger at work and to be better prepared for those pricey lab hours!

(I first passed the CCIE Written several years ago.)

Wish you the best of luck with your studies. The trick is to keep the motivation up for the whole process (which is not easy since preparation can easily span years).

Thanks everyone! The journey (acquisition of knowledge) is almost as important to me as the destination (certification). I reckon it will be a smooth journey, except for the parts I can't fathom a way to apply in my present job role (like those dagnabbed proprietary protocols). :)

Hey NV, looking good so far. Question for you...how are you attacking the written? What I mean is your path so far is not in line with the written blueprint; are you just picking subjects at random? Just curious icon_smile.gif

Sorta! I've passed the CCIE written before, and I remember it being a letdown, not a step up from CCNP. I know I need to review all the topics, but I don't see the sequence as essential. I'm hitting them as they interest me, or as they become important at my workplace. I want to strengthen my foundation before I pass the CCIE Written, so when I do pass it, I'll be ready for the lab sprint. And I want to pass QoS along the way to finish my CCIP. :)

Keep it up fella, doing the same thing. Have all my INE hardware, all now upgraded, just got to patch and sort out the reverse telnet (using a 32port async mod in a 2600)

    Labbed a troubleshooting scenario

I mostly reinforced what I already knew this past week, via reviews and my career. I'm at an.. interesting.. place. Sometimes I'm an expert. Sometimes I'm no better than average. I can't afford to be no better than average in my role! It's not an easy road, but it's a good one.
