Anyone know why WGU is no longer taking applications for this program?

Uhm... My first guess would be it's not making money.

Yeah I bet nobody enrolls about in it, nobody here on the forums ever mentions it and i'm pretty convinced a large majority of WGU IT students are on TE.

Maybe they are going to replace it with something new? That would be exciting.. like a network emphasis?

My understanding the reason is due to Microsoft retiring a couple of the certifications within the program. I assume you're not a current student? If you are, there's quite a few posts about it in the Communities.

Here's just a little snippet from a post on the community:
    "
Supposedly, according to one of the WGU program managers, it's now because of two of the certifications being retired (I'm not really sure why this wasn't anticipated with it being based on 2008...I would've thought WGU would've shifted their program in anticipation of this? Surely, it's not the first time it's happened that a cert exam is retired and replaced by something more current?):

"This is due to two of the main certifications
being retired by Microsoft (WGU course codes CIV1 and CMV1). More
information regarding the exam retirements is available at the following

WGU is not a for profit school. That program is being dropped because of the cert changes MS is doing with SQL. At least that was the explanation I saw on the community boards.
