Old Job

Would it be a good idea to have a person call the HR of my old job and ask why did they let me go? My position was eliminated last September as an Desktop Support Technician and the HR claim that they wanted someone more "higher up" but prior to that my direct boss told me that upper management wasn't comfortable with me (whatever that means but I didn't ask).
