Just took the 640-801 for the first time today, failed with 762.
I think my main problem was relying on a single source as a study guide. I signed up with TestOut. The study material was pretty good, but the practice exams didn't cover all the material. Some subjects weren't mentioned at all (subnet-zero, for instance) or their importance on the test was downplayed.
Fortunately, the program includes a refund if you fail your test. So all I really wasted was the time to travel to the testing center and take the test.
So, I think I'm going to purchase the 5th edition of Sybex's study guide. Seems like a lot of people recommended its use on here. Is there anything else I should consider while studying to take the test again?
