Open Source SIEM software

Does anyone know of any good open source SIEM software? Looking for something to play around with on my home network.

Both OSSIM (SIEM) and OSSEC (IDP) are recommended by SANS.

From what I hear, OSSEC is difficult to set up isnt it? Is it something you can really run in a small environment?
