Dynamic vs Sticky

My study materials mention both sticky and dynamically learned mac addresses in the port security section. However, they only really define sticky addresses, they dont really say what dynamically learned addresses are. How are dynamically learned addresses discovered, and how are they different from sticky addresses?

dynamic learned port security will lose all learned mac address when the switch power cycles because they cant be saved to the startup config. Sticky port security is configured so that you can save the learned address to the startup config. There is also the static method, in which you manually configure mac address access on a switch port and they can be saved as part of the startup config.

So, in a nutshell, plain ol dynamic address will have to be relearned if the switch reboots, sticky can retain the addresses.

Ahh, makes sense. So is dynamic learning on by default? Then, when you activate sticky learning all addresses that would have been learned dynamically are copied to the running configuration?

    Thanks for the help! :)
